Madeleine Ashton is a Speech and Language Therapist specialising in laryngeal disorders. She qualified in 2008 with a post-graduate degree from City University in London. She is Health and Care Professions Council registered and a Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Madeleine has worked in London for the NHS at Whipps Cross University Hospital, running the multidisciplinary voice clinic with ENT and managing the voice disorders caseload. She also worked on the acute wards with patients who had swallowing or communication difficulties. She continued this work in Australia at Logan Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. There, Madeleine also ran a specialist clinic for clients with swallowing difficulties related to respiratory problems and Idiopathic Laryngeal Obstruction (ILO). Since moving to Bristol in 2014, she has worked on the acute wards including critical care at Bristol Royal Infirmary and Royal United Hospital, Bath. Madeleine has also worked as part of the adult voice team at St Michael’s Hospital. As well as running Voice Box, she now works part time at an NHS hospital, specialising in acute paediatric care and voice.
Madeleine has advanced competency in managing patients with tracheostomies. She is experienced in managing complex voice and swallowing disorders and interpreting videoflouroscopy (modified barium swallow) imaging.
